RE: Lake Hemet ( Class A ) help needed

Thanks for the input. We have been there many times but not recently and never in a Moho, it was always a tent or a small....and I do mean small 17' Fifth Wheel. We ended up near the lake dry camping which was awesome. I will write more on the trip in the appropriate category. Thanks Again Steve and Sherry, and Skitter too.

Lake Hemet ( Class A ) help needed

Does anyone have any experience at Lake Hemet Campgrounds in California with their 40' plus MOHO? They claim they can handle up to a 40' but we all know how cramped that can be. Thanks

RE: Need help getting gas :)

I would think if you can see the fuel through the fill pipe, then your full! One thing I don't understand, why fuel on both sides at the same time? MM. Just to clear up any confusion Mark, I filled only the driver side fill inlet, I had the fill cap off the driver side to vent. I saw fuel at the top of each fill pipe is what I meant. I agree, has to be the gauge. I had thought this originally but after searching here and reading all the fill up issues, I was not real sure. Thanks everybody for the help and input. I will see that the gauge issue is on my punch list. So far that is the only issue that has made the list.....thank God!!!

Need help getting gas :)

Seriously, I tried filling up and found the following issues I could use some advice on. This is on our 2008 40X Discovery DP MOHO Okay, I had a quarter tank. I took the fill caps off from each side thinking venting was a good thing. I filled 'er up but she only held about 37 gallons. I waited to see if the level went down to try to squeeze a lil more in but was only able to get another few cents in. The fuel was visible on each side in the fill nozzle, I could not squeeze in another drop. The Gas Guage now reads between 3/4 and full. It stayed there even after driving around a little thinking it would burp the air or something. Oh and yes, the ground was level where I fueled up. Questions are these: Why could I not get a full tank? Should I have pulled off both fill caps when fueling as I did? If it is a 90 gallons fuel capacity and I was at 1/4 tank why did it only hold 37 gallons is teh bottom half of the tank bigger? Okay, stop laughing I had to ask that. How do all of you fill up to get a full tank of fuel? Thanks Everyone for the help. Tim

RE: So what do you guys use your rigs for?

1st I wanted to say Hi to RV 42 and fordsooperdootydieselsmoker since we're neighbors. We also live a few blocks from D-Land. Anyway, we've used our 2008 Discovery 40X so far to camp at Newport Dunes a few times as it is local and we are doing our New Coach shake down runs before we do some serious traveling. We are planning a Yellowstone trip in Sept of this year. We also plan on hitting as many of America's Wilderness destinations as posible in the next couple years.

RE: Why is it SO DIFFICULT?

"How can you tell if a salesman is lying? When he opens his mouth" It is a sad commentary on this profession, but it seems, this turns out to be true, more times than not. The underlying commission based motivation seems to drive them to say almost anything. Oh to find one that was truly concerned for my wants and needs and follows up constantly after the sale, to insure my satisfaction, this to me, would be the hoily grail of salesman. Are there any of those, out there? Ken YESSSSSS!!! Chad Hicks @ Mike Thompsons in Fountain Valley. This kid is the best. He is exactly what you mentioned above,The Holly Grail!

RE: Why is it SO DIFFICULT?

I've been googling my heart out. (this is the wife - I get to do the investigative work). The manufacturer needs the vin number in order to give me the correct info. Can't get it from the dealer. Don't want to drive 6 hours to write it down myself. catch 22. (You can tell I am frustrated and venting, can't you?) With these guys, so far it is like dealing with the lower spectrum of the gene pool. My heart goes out to you. We discovered (RV Buying Hell) just last month as we bought ours. The Dealers have no clue and as mentioned above, they will tell you what they think you want to hear as well as what they think which is usually about 75 % wrong. There is an extreme lack of Product Knowledge by the Dealers. We were reminded of Burnt Out Carnival Workers when dealing with most of the people in the RV Sales Industry we came across. We did however manage to find an Awesome Sales Man we were way happy with. The Solution??? My advice would be to find someone with tons of hands on and current RV experience, take them with you and let them be your advisor, if need be pay them for the help. For what it is worth, just wait until you actually make the purchase, it will get worse I bet. Good luck! Tim

RE: Retracting Jacks Procedure

HR recommends the exact reverse of the set-up procedue. Retract jacks. Retract Slides. Start coach. ??? Most MOHO's, and correct me if I am wrong, need the engine running to use the jacks. Also if you retract the jacks and become un-level then slide in the slides you are sliding them in on a bind which will lead to exessive wear or even worse, premature failure due to them sliding in askew. Think of it as a silverware drawer that gets cocked a little when you try to close it, what happens? It binds until it is slid in straight right? Just my two cents, Tim

RE: Recent Site Issues

I do not think the message (down for maintenance) is a portal issue as we get it regardless of the portal or browser used. Seems to be a forum issue or perhaps the site is doing just that, down for maintenance. We have been getting that error message for two days intermittently. Another issue as of late seems to be the spell check feature, it comes up with a 404 file not found message when used.

Fridge Question

How do you pre-cool the fridge? We have a fridge that works off Propane, Electric, either or when in auto mode. The problem is when I try to get it pre-cooled the night before a trip and leave the coach, I always turn off both banks of batteries. Even if the fridge is set to LP gas,it powers the fridge off too. What does every one do for getting the fridge cool before a trip? Will leaving the batteries on, if that is what we need to do, drain them bad over night keeping the fridge powered up? Thanks, Tim

RE: Newport Beach

Newport Dunes, we have been there with our new MH 3 times and heading there again tomorrow, ( Thursday the 24th ) for the weekend. It is local for us and where we are doing our new coach shake down runs. Here are a few Pro's and Cons as we see them. Cons......Very spendy. $130.00 a night for an average spot and $220.00 a night for waterfront spots. Very Crowded...they shoe horn you in with views only of other RV's Swimming permitted only if you rent their life vests at 6 bucks an hour, they do not allow you to use your own. Cha-ching!!! Toad and guest vehicle parking is a joke, again Cha-ching. They park all over the place blocking most vehicles in, Heaven help you if there were a fire, people would not get out of the place. Narrow spots, thank God for the back up camera. Pros....Semi clean and maintained Walking distance to Back Bay Drive where I do a lot of Nature Photography and HD Video stuff Dogs permitted with their own little poop area Pretty festive just before sundown with nice people roaming around, usually with a drink in their hand. Greta for kids with an outdoor movie each night shown on a huge inflatable screen An arcade for the kids also This will be our last visit there as it is not worth the money for what you get. It is only a local place for us to get to know the MH. We'll look for you this weekend if you go, just let us know. Tim

RE: Satelite TV help needed badly

Just a follow up, and again Thanks for the info everybody. As for the KVH in motion dish? Man, that thing is noisy. I had to have the dealer load a software patch to it so it had the satelite configuration for Dish Networks recently changed HD settings, that was a fiasco but it all seems to work pretty well while parked. In Motion? Not hardly worth the frustration as it drops the signal more than it gets it. Thanks again for the input. Tim

RE: Love it or Hate it?

2008 Fleetwood Discovery 40X Taken 2 local shake down trips (6 days and nights total) and Love it so far. Not a thing to add to the punch list yet. Had a few user error type glitches but all else is great.

RE: Satelite TV help needed badly

Thank You for the help everybody. It looks as if I will be calling Dish Network on a regular basis. As for the In Motion Trac-Vision set up? Ahem.....well I kinda thought it sounded too good to be true and of course I was right. It works seldom and drops out often. Too bad it does not work as good as Satelite Radio does on the road. Thanks again for all the help! T of TCandDC

Satelite TV help needed badly

Okay, so we get our Coach with a Trac-Vision In Motion Satelite. I got a Dish Network HD Reciever and finaly get it working in the coach, talk about a frustrating fiasco. What I am unclear on is this.....What do you do when you are not using the coach and have powered off the Main and Auxillary batteries and the coach is void of all power, the Dish Reciever can only retain it's memory for about 1 week with no power to it, or so I am told. Do I need to call Dish each time to have them reset it or??? What are all you folk's doing in this situation? Help??? Thanks in advance. T of TCandDC

RE: Teenagers!!!!!!

Good morning everyone. Thank you for your help. Letting it run through the wash cycle worked, will not try drying them though, told her to deal with it. It's Sunday morn and I'm drinking my 1st cup of coffee and she is on sofa bed sleeping. They look like little angels when they sleep. They don't talk back or get into any mischief when eyes are closed. And about running the world, good thing I have my MH, can run and escape when needed. But really she is a good kid, just keep telling her dad it's her age, it shall pass. You guys all have a good day and thank you again for all your help.
